FMQ-ing Again

As you faithful readers know, I make baby quilt tops for St Anne's Sewdality.  Starting this month we're going to try a different process.  Other members will make tops and I will quilt them.  I'll get to practice more FMQ-ing that way (and start linking to FMQ Mavericks again).  Here's the first top (one I made) that was sandwiched and given back to me:
After all the straight seams were SITD, I did loops around the octagons and serpentined (sp?) around the owls.
I then made four leaf motifs in the cornerstones and then stippled the outside border.
There are cute little flannel owls on the back, too.

BTW: "I'm participating in the Pink Doxies new link up, #BraveQuilter. As part of the #BraveQuilter link party for September, I going to try a new applique technique (for me) as seen in Lara's book, Crafted Applique ".

  1. You're doing such valuable work, and still figuring out how to practice your skills. You definitely get an Atta Girl in my book!

I'm looking forward to seeing your applique work this month, and thank you for linking up to #BraveQuilter at Pink Doxies. It's going to be a great month for new ideas.

  5. Always nice to have free practice materials, isn't it? You should get a lot of variety, and some large canvas to thread paint! I like what you did on this one, especially what's in the octagon part.

  6. Very nice variety of FMQ patterns on this little quilt! My favorite is the petal shapes on the corner stones. I find that motif a lot of fun to stitch, and it always looks nice in a square block.

  8. I'm always being advised that we're supposed to do a little FMQ every day and you are going to become very skilled. I like very much what you have done with this quilt. I should follow your example and drop those feed dogs :-D

  9. Depending on how fast the others sew, you could get a lot of time in on free-motion quilting! That's what I call teamwork.

All Comes to A Halt

Sighhhh....  While I was quilting I  ran my finger, somehow, under the needle. Went right through my left index fingernail right through to...
